Welcome to my little health blog that isn’t a typical health blog.
This blog, BodyWise, will decidedly not be about me after today. But I figure the birth of any blog merits a background: why it’s created, what it has to say, who’s behind it, and who might want to check it out. So here it goes…
The birth of this blog is cultivated from a labor of love for — and unshakable curiosity about — health and medicine. I am so intrigued by medicine that each time I’m hanging out with people discussing health issues, I toil to repress a flood of questions. (I take mental notes and do research later.) I often can’t remember where I put my keys, but medical facts stick to me like glue.
Well into a marketing and communications career, beautiful opportunities in medical writing and editing illuminated a previously unidentified ambition for a career in specialty medicine. Unfortunately, this epiphany coincided with life happening, and in a fashion that didn’t accommodate med school. So I research. And I write. And this corner of my life is bliss that I want to share.
Few phrases are more tantalizing to me than “double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled;” therefore, much of what I write is heavily research-fueled. But don’t worry. This blog won’t be monotonous. I characterize it as “not a typical health blog” for a
few reasons:
- It will include evidence-based information presented in prose that is actually person-friendly.
- It will answer all kinds of questions, including some quirky medical queries. Topics may run the medical gamut from hangnails to hangovers, and well beyond.
- If you ponder matters unconventionally as I do, you might like this blog.
If you are kind enough to read my blog, thank you. If I may, can I ask one small favor? Please, provide feedback. Your questions are welcomed too; one simple question can open the brainstorming floodgates to many blog ideas and topics. I’ve blogged for companies but this is my first solo gig. Your feedback will help me grow as a blogger.
I’m signing off, as I will with every blog post, with two random facts and a photo-clue for my next post. (Thanks for reading.)
